Lagerfeld

At the age of fourteen, Karl Lagerfeld moved to Paris, where he took his first steps in the fashion world. At sixteen, he won first prize in a famous competition for designers. He then became assistant to couturier Pierre Balmain. In 1958, he moved to Jean Patou, where he remained until 1963. By this time, the idea of working for several fashion houses had already germinated in his mind. Thus began a new life as a freelance designer. In 1963, he began working for Chloé, designing for the Fendi sisters and then for Chanel.
In 1984, he opened his own haute couture house. He designs some 2,500 models a year, making him one of the most prolific designers in the fashion world.
