Is concealer really an essential make-up accessory? As a matter of fact, it is. But few say so. Covering dark circles, brightening eyes, evening out eyelid tones, and sometimes even masking imperfections elsewhere, concealer is a must-have in every make-up bag.
Perhaps even more so than foundation!
In fact, it's applied not before, but after foundation, or any other similar product, and then set with a powder. So it's not a base, but a finishing touch. No concealer, whatever its texture, should be applied with the finger. Instead, use a brush or sponge, then blend lightly with the pad of your index or middle finger.
Two other things to look out for when choosing your product: choose the right shade (not too light, to avoid the "ski goggles" effect that some stars sport on the carpet, before being pinned in magazines for "failure"), and then a consistency that matches your skin. Shinier for dry skin, duller for oily skin. As for the choice between stick, bottle, powder or cream... It's up to you to decide and test according to how your skin behaves on it.
Note that concealer sets! Once applied, add a light, loose powder, otherwise, two or three hours later, your redness and dark circles will be back under your beautiful make-up...
