Fascinated by perfumery, Patrick Mauboussin, then head of the brand in the 90s, suggested creating a "jewel perfume", highlighting French expertise in the field. The idea of the then CEO became an unexpected and touching attention when the Sultan of Brunei was presented with a series of perfumes, each bottle bearing his name. One thing led to another, and Mauboussin entered the perfume business. The first bottle, in the shape of a tetrahedron, symbolizes the crystallization of a rough diamond, an obvious shape for a jeweler offering a gift to women.
Since then, Mauboussin fragrances have followed in the footsteps of jewelry, noble, refined, intense and imbued with the brand's trademark touch of fantasy.
